Upload your video
Choose and upload your video from your files or drag and drop it directly onto PlayPlay’s video editing platform. You can also select from a range of videos in our royalty-free library and record your voice over directly on PlayPlay. Majority of file formats are accepted, including: MP4, MOV, MKV, MPG, and more.

Choose your customizable template
Simply add a screen by selecting the “+” button – this will reveal our large range of customizable templates. Select your preferred “Quotes & Subtitles” video template from the menu and drag and drop your video file to the template.

Add subtitles to your video
On the template customization settings click “Subtitles”. You can choose to add automatic subtitles, write your own, or to import an .SRT file. To keep it simple, we recommend the automatic subtitles option – that way you’ll have your video’s subtitles ready in seconds and can edit them directly in PlayPlay.

How can I add subtitles to a video?
With PlayPlay, you can add subtitles to your videos with ease. Log in to the platform, choose the "Quotes & Subtitles" screen and import your video. Then click on the subtitles section and either add them automatically, manually or via an .srt file. You can also translate the subtitles into another language if you want to target diverse audiences. Finish editing your video, download and share it with your audience.
Is there a way to automatically add subtitles to your videos?
Yes, with PlayPlay, you can easily add automatic subtitles to your videos. Automatic subtitling uses speech-to-text functionality to automatically transcribe any speech in a video and turn it into time coded subtitles. With PlayPlay you simply have to choose the "Quotes & Subtitles" screen and then add the media you wish to add subtitles to. Click on "automatic subtitles" and select the language you wish to use. In just a few minutes, your video will have full subtitles. Additionally, you’ll be able to edit your subtitles and change timestamps directly on the platform as you wish.
Can you translate subtitles automatically?
In addition to supporting automatic subtitling, PlayPlay offers automatic subtitling translation for most popular languages. When adding automatic subtitles, you will be given the opportunity to select the language you’d like to use. Once selected, your video’s subtitles will be automatically translated to your preferred language. It’s that simple!
How can you synchronize audio with subtitles?
If you use automatic subtitles on PlayPlay then most of the work will be done for you. However, you’ll still have the option to make tweaks to the timings yourself once the automatic subtitles are loaded. Additionally, you’ll be able to adjust the timings on manual subtitles too by selecting the ‘time coding’ option in the subtitle’s edit menu. This will allow you to control when subtitles are displayed to help you synchronize your audio with subtitles.
What is the difference between subtitles and closed captions?
Subtitles are used for transcribing speech. This means displaying the characters’ dialogue on the screen as they speak. Subtitles can also be used to translate that speech into other languages.
Closed captions also describe the soundscape using words. A good way to illustrate the difference would be a scene in which music is playing. Closed captions would indicate something, such as “[Music playing]”, whereas subtitles would not.
